CATAINGAN's Hot Spots!

KHOKAK BEACH RESORT
Khokak Beach Resort

Situated in Barangay San Pedro, Cataingan Masbate, a four kilometer, scenic , hidden beach resort can be found -- the Khokak Beach Resort. According to the owner of the resort, Khokak is also a man-made beach in a way that the side of the hill where the beach now lies is purposely flattened and there are built in trapping devices that will accumulate the sand and increase the beach's front.

Guest Houses
This resort is really a perfect weekend get-away for people who loves spending time by the sea. Aside from its white sand beach and its tempting clear seawater, everyone can relax and feel accommodated in the resort's 10 two-storey guest houses. Food for hungry stomachs is also not a problem here for the resort has its own restaurant at the middle of its grounds, serving all the Cataingan delicacies and a variety of seafood dishes.

Mayon Volcano

Early in the morning, at the higher part of the hill you can witness the beautiful perfect cone volcano, the Mayon Volcano, in the neighboring islands of the Bicol Region.

Sibugay Island

  SIBUGAY ISLAND

Aside from the astonishing Mayon Volcano, an eye-catching little island at the middle of the opposite side of the beach is lying elegantly. It is the Sibugay Island in front of Tagapul-an Island which belongs already to Samar but much nearer to Cataingan, Masbate in just an hour away by a boat ride. Sibugay is already a private island ,another property of the owner of the Khokak Beach Resort, and considered a marine sanctuary and a diving place. Tourists can have a tour at the islet during their stay in the resort.

A glimpse of  what you can find in Sibugay Island...

KALASANGAN HILLS

The third destination is the uphill hidden beauty of Kalasangan Hills , still a property of the owner of Khokak Beach Resort. Adventurous tourists can try trekking in the hill or ride a vehicle going up for there are now roads made cutting through the forest. In the innermost and center part of the hill, you can find the natural spring where everyone can take a dive and swim for it is converted into a pool. And eco-lovers will surely enjoy with the presence of different trees in great numbers: mahogany, mango, coconut and many more. Observant enough, try looking for the seven branched coconut tree.

These are just tidbits of what makes Catainganons proud of saying "Taga-Cataingan ako!"

  1. Local folks in our country are discouraged from travelling to scenic spots and fine beaches in the country. one obstacle or reason could be their lack of knowledge what routes to take in going to such a beautiful place like Cataingan. like, for us leytenos ,we wonder if there could be a passenger boat from Ormoc to Cataingan. looking at the map of leyte, San isidro, leyte at the northern tip of Northwestern leyte seems to be the nearest take off point to the southernmost tip of masbate. Blog like yours could be the answer by blogging more info like ship schedule and the various port of call served by Cataingan. Good luck to your blog.
